Gabarit
In Switzerland, surveyors translate a project’s plans into physical space using construction templates installed on site. These structures make visible the intended volumes, heights, and boundaries. In many cantons, such installations are required during the public review process, allowing residents to physically perceive the project’s footprint before authorization.
The series Gabarit belongs to a contemporary photographic practice attentive to temporary forms inscribed in the landscape. These technical structures, designed to anticipate future construction, become geometric volumes visible in open space.
Through photography, the territory becomes a surface of projection. Lines, heights, and boundaries trace a temporary abstraction in which the architectural project exists even before it is built.
