Terrains de jeux — Rethinking Limits
Olympic Games Paris 2024
This project presents sports fields viewed from above. The lines designed to organize play structure the surface into precise geometric forms. Each discipline carries its own set of rules, inscribed on the ground through specific markings. The traces left by players also reveal how the field has been used. By isolating these elements from their immediate purpose, the image brings the spatial composition into focus.
Created as part of the Cultural Olympiad Paris 2024, the project was presented in Metz across several iconic locations in the city, as large-scale installations in public space.
Inspired by the colors of the Olympic flag and the Games’ motto, the project is developed in two distinct bodies of work:
- compositions bringing together images focused on the geometry of the field,
- series of images drawing on the principles of abstract art to reinterpret various Olympic sports.
The photographs are made from existing sports fields.
